Make your own natural essential oil room spray!

I love using essential oils to make my home smell great.  It’s so much better to make my own air fresheners than using the chemical-filled, artificial air fresheners from the store. And It’s not only great for your home, they make great gifts, and they’re fun and easy make. You can use a diffuser or make one of these essential oil room spray.

What you need to make homemade room spray:

  1. glass spray bottle – Avoid plastic bottles as undiluted essential oils can break down plastic.
  2. water – I use distilled water, but you can also use boiled and cooled filtered water.
  3. witch hazel water (**What’s are flower water?)
  4. essential oils

How to make homemade essential oil room sprays?

step 1:  start with  glass spray bottle

step 2:  fill about 3/4 full with distilled water

step 3:  fill most of the rest of the way full with witch hazel

tip: be sure to leave a little room at the top of the bottom for adding essential oils and sprayer

step 4:  add 40 drops of essential oil — see recipes below and get a free printable of all the room spray recipes here

step 5:  put on sprayer top and shake well to mix

 

Recipe 1:

The sweet citrusy scents of tangerine and bergamot combine with the clean, fresh scent of spearmint in this room spray.  The aroma reminds me of spending a warm summer day on the beach surrounded by the cool, refreshing ocean air.  The result is an air freshener that’s both uplifting and energizing.

To make room spray:

  • fill glass spray bottle about 3/4 full with distilled water
  • fill most of the rest of the way full with witch hazel
  • 15 drops spearmint essential oil
  • 15 drops tangerine essential oil
  • 10 drops bergamot essential oil
  • put on sprayer top and shake well to mix

  How about this all-natural, homemade lemonade air freshener?  The sweet, tangy smell of lemon combines with subtle notes of basil and spearmint to give your home a fresh, sunny vibe no matter the weather outside.  And not only does it smell great, but with the therapeutic benefits of essential oil, it’s also helps energize, clear the mind, and focus on the task at hand.

To make room spray:

  • fill glass spray bottle about 3/4 full with distilled water
  • fill most of the rest of the way full with witch hazel
  • 28 drops lemon essential oil
  • 6 drops basil essential oil
  • 6 drops spearmint essential oil
  • put on sprayer top and shake well to mix
