Toxic Beauty Care – Doesn’t sound very appealing, right?

Toxic beauty care, how is it affect your overall health and how to be more aware of it?

When you think of beauty products from well-known companies, visions of young beautiful models and starlets can easily come into your mind, or even heavily touched up mature ones. Along with these beautiful images, you’ll receive the stated and unstated promises of good health, youth, vitality, confidence and sensuality. These are the alluring ideas that most cosmetic manufacturers want you to think and feel as you watch their commercials or see their ads in magazines. These are basically the promises and lies of toxic beauty care.

These products are nothing more than synthetic soup, designed for profit, not safety.

Natural beauty care on the other hand, is more than just a pantry full of ingredients along with a hippy dippy mentality. It’s a way of life for the more conscious among us, and it’s now becoming available from certain celebrities that work from a different place… their hearts.

As people transition into their later years, they’re clearly seeing past the lies and deception of corporate greed. The destruction of the environment as well as the ill health effects from daily use of toxic products is now unacceptable. As we ‘wake up’ and choose a more natural lifestyle, the corporate giants have shifted their marketing strategies, but unfortunately, not their ingredients.

I encourage you to visit the sites of these larger corporations. You’ll see a lot of talk about sustainability, but what they leave out is a list of the ingredients that they use in their products. You’ll have to actually go to the store to view these ingredients on their product labels.

It’s Your health, your beauty. do not risk it by the hands of the giant lies!

Major ingredients to be aware of are:

Parabens:

Parabens are a type of preservative, the names to look out for are butylparabenmethylparaben and propylparaben aka the most commonly found parabens.

Parabens are believed to disrupt hormone function by mimicking oestrogen. Too much oestrogen can trigger an increase in breast cell division and growth of tumours, which is why paraben use has been linked to breast cancer and reproductive issues.

Artificial Fragrance/Parfum

Almost every single conventional skincare and cosmetic product (even “unscented” ones) contains artificial fragrances. Manufacturers aren’t required to reveal what’s actually in their fragrances, so you’ll simply see Fragrance or Parfum on the ingredients list when it could actually be a cocktail of carcinogens, allergens, endocrine disruptors, and irritants.

The simple thing, is essential oils and their amazing smells are beneficial and healthy and that’s what i use to create the skin care products.

Sodium Lauryl Sulfate and Sodium Laureth Sulfate

SLS/SLES are foaming agents used in a slew of personal care products, including skin care and cosmetics, shampoo, and toothpaste. They are surfactants that can cause skin irritation or trigger allergies. Additionally, chemical compounds known as “nitrosamines” are common by-products of the sulfation process. 90% of nitrosamines are believed to be carcinogenic.

Formaldehyde

Formaldehyde is used as a preservative in cosmetics. It’s a known carcinogen that is also linked to asthma, neurotoxicity, and developmental toxicity. It can be found in preservatives such as quaternium-15, DMDM hydantoin, and imidazolidinyl urea.

Oxybenzone (and other chemical sunscreens)

Sunscreens come in two different forms: chemical and mineral filters. The most common sunscreens on the market use chemical filters such as oxybenzone. Oxybenzone is a known endocrine disruptor and can alter thyroid function. It’s also linked to skin allergies. Chemical sunscreens should be avoided at all costs—especially with children! It’s important to also avoid the other popular “O”s, including octinoxate and octocrylene, which are now both considered to be harmful to human health and the environment.

Always choose mineral sun protection, which is based on zink like this one

Triclosan

Triclosan is an antibacterial agent once used in antibacterial soaps. In 2016, it was banned from soap used in health-care settings, but it is still allowed in personal cosmetics. Not only does triclosan contribute to antibiotic resistant bacteria, but it’s also an endocrine disruptor and was shown to contribute to gut inflammation and promote tumor growth in mouse studies. Not good. (Read more about Triclosan in your hand soaps)
