This is the season for an Immune system boosting smoothie!

Whether it’s cold and flu season or just allergy season, keeping a strong immune system should always be your top priority. During the cold winter months  or any day actually, we need to strengthen our immune system. why not having a delicious immune system boosting smoothie which is rich with antioxidant-packed blueberries and cranberries and vitamin C-rich strawberries and apples?

This smoothie is the perfect to-go breakfast (or afternoon snack). Super versatile too — swap strawberries for peaches or blueberries and add a splash of vanilla extract to kick it up a notch. And its got a beautiful colour as a bonus:)

Ingredients

1/4 cup (50 mL) blueberries/raspberries
4-5 large strawberries, hulled
1 small apple, cored
1 tbsp (15 mL) maple syrup
1/4 cup (50 mL) dried cranberries
1 1/4 cups (300 mL) water, to taste

Mix ingredients in a blender or food processor, or with a hand blender, until smooth.

Strawberries: nutrition includes vitamins C and B6, minerals Manganese and potassium. It’s a good antioxidant and high in fiber.

Blueberries: A superfood whose nutrition includes vitamins C and K. The minerals manganese and 15 different antioxidants.

Raspberries: nutritions includes vitamins C, K E, and B. In addition to anti-inflammatories, they are another antioxidant powerhouse.
