The importance of self care for empaths

Are you an empath?   then these self care for empaths tips are crucial for you.

In essence an empath is someone who is hypersensitive to the feelings of others. An empath is someone who can know how someone is feeling without any physical cues – like someone crying.

Empaths can feel very overwhelmed by the energy of other people. We as empaths can dread social interactions – not because we dislike people or have social anxiety – but because we know that we will feel drained afterwards. Feeling drained is not a necessary part of being an empath. We do not need to dread social interactions if we are empaths. Empath is a superpower, the moment you learn boundaries, to separate your energetic field and not absorb all around, there you are in touch with your magnificent powers!

Embrace these to your beautiful empathic heart:

1 )The first way to take care of yourself as an empath is to prioritize yourself.   This means you need to say no when you mean no. learn that yes and no have the same power. You do not need to let go of your boundaries in order to make other people happy.(well, let’s say most important lesson for empath in order to use their su learn boundaries….) It is to Your job is not to make other people but to take care of yourself first!

And know that take your time out, to take care of yourself is not selfish, itś a must!

2) The second tip I have for you empaths out there is to remember your power. Often when we are in times of overwhelm or just feeling drained from other people’s energy we can forget how powerful we are. Remember your power as limitless human being connected to all of the universe. The things that are draining us are often not as powerful as we think they are.

3) And the last tip I have for you today is to have discernment. Question the things that you pick up from people. Question how you feel and what your empathic senses are telling you. If you are picking up sadness from somewhere around you, are you sure about where it is coming from? Questioning things in this way helps to tell when something is coming from yourself or if it is coming from somewhere else. Drop down to your heart and listen , drop to your physical body and feel. When we learn to separate- this isn’t mine, i can tune in back to self, we take our power back.

Oils for Empaths

Because our emotions are chemicals, they can travel through the entire body, there are both emotional and physical signs that you’ve had your energy drained. You may feel:

  • Knots in stomach
  • Sick to your stomach
  • Head tension
  • Racing heart
  • Incredibly tired (OMG yes)
  • Pressure on chest, Unmotivated
  • Hot and sweaty
  • Overwhelmed
  • Crying (hmm..yes)
  • Shaking
  • Racing mind
  • Sadness

There are a few ways you can use essential oils (aromatically, topically, and some internally–you can read more about that here). And you can also use common oils and blends to target these specific things, but here are some of my favorites for clearing energy, setting up energetic boundaries, and releasing tension:

Basil; This is for when you’re feeling physically drained by people. It’s uplifting and energizing and back in the day was said to keep away evil spirits (so like, real live energy vampires). When you wake up, dilute and apply two drops to your feet, then rub on your chest.

Patchouli; is a grounding oil and known as the oil of physicality ( this is great for physical empaths that take on the symptoms of other people) as it can help you to reconnect to own body instead of taking on the symptoms/energies of other people). read more about patchouli here

Melaleuca; this oil is if you’re feeling drained of your energy but you don’t know why–put it over your heart and your stomach. This helps you to release those energy vampire relationships.

Myrrh; This is the oil of mother earth so it helps you to feel connected to mother earth. I love to use grounding oils when I will be around a lot of different energy .It’s a super easy and effective way to protect your energy. I usually apply this over my heart or on my cuff, but you can also apply it to your feet. Myrrh helps you to feel grounded and secure because we can draw energy from the earth.

Clove; this is the oil of boundaries. For ppl who are easily influenced by other people’s energy (like all empaths), this helps you to let go of victim mentality, help you stand up for yourself and make your own choices and help you say no. The passion blend has a lot of empath oils as well and you can use it for that if you have it already!
