What everyone should do for their skin?

To me, skin care solutions are not black and white.  What works for your friend may not work for you. For example when i talk about clearing acne, your acne may not be cleared up with a product alone, but rather with some additional lifestyle changes and a professional treatment.

I believe in the grey area and that everyone’s health journey is personal to them.

While I’m genuine with my education about this grey area, there are a few instances where I have a very black and white opinion. I was for a long time very quite with my opinion that comes from knowledge and experience but now i have to say….i can not hear anymore when people say they skin cleaning their face or that they spray perfume all over their body!

Many time iv’e been asked for skin care “rules” that will lead to healthy skin. I usually tell you that rules don’t apply because no two people are alike. But i would like to come out of this answer and give you our top five “rules” of skin care that everyone should follow.

The Things That EVERYONE Should Do For Their Skin

  1. Avoid exfoliation beads and abrasive ingredients. Harsh ingredients like plastic microbeads, should never be used on the face. They can irritate delicate skin and even break the tiny capillaries found underneath.
  2. Always wash your face morning gently and night with a two stage cleanser . Our face is a magnet for dirt, grime, and bacteria and there is no reason to let it fester on your skin. When you do, it clogs pores and can cause acne or cause skin to be abnormally oily. Wash your face morning and night with a gentle cleaner to keep skin clean and healthy.
  3. Never buy a hand sanitizer or antibacterial soap containing Triclosan. This ingredient is not good for you or for the environment. It has been linked to hormone disruption and brain damage. It can make its way into breast milk just as easily as it makes it into our waterways, where it converts to chloroform. To top it all off, Triclosan is a completely unnecessary ingredient. According to an advisory panel to the US Food and Drug Administration, Triclosan is no more effective in killing bacteria that natural soap and water. 4. Stop wearing perfume and fragrance. Perfumes are made with ingredients that are not only unregulated, but are not required to be disclosed. When you see “fragrance” on a label, what you don’t see are the 3,000 some chemicals, including phthalates, that it represents. You aren’t given the opportunity to research what damage these ingredients could be doing to your health and that of those around you (though you probably realize the headache is a side effect of your overwhelming scent). And if perfume is too hard to quit, switch to essential oils blends in oils or as refreshing mist sprays.
  5. Remove sugar and dairy from your diet. It’s going to be hard, but you’ll be glad you did. Sugar can cause skin to be inflexible (hello, wrinkles!) and dairy can cause redness and inflammation and of course acne. dairy creates moist in your body which is the perfect place for bacteria to grow…
  6. Never overlook the importance of a professional treatment in your beauty routine. Regular facial treatments can not be replaced by home treatments since you can not clean properly yourself without causing more dirt and scars (sorry, i know it’s hard but please stop touching your face and try to remove black heads alone…). Besides the cleaning, the level of hydration, vitamins etc that can be brought to your skin during a professional treatment is unique to that treatment time also because the beautician will use ingredients that are not at home.

I am very passionate about these lifestyle changes, and even if it seems hard, you will not regret it!

Go to bed 5 minutes earlier so you have time to wash your skin, use essential oils as perfume, stop using the harmful soaps, book your beauty time by a professional and reduce sugars and milk. I can promise you you will the results pretty quickly!
