Summer fruits are a great colorful celebration!

Fruits and vegetables are the center of the food pyramid, and most of them are considered  superfoods with excellent nutrients.  How to encourage children to eat them a little more of these wonderful fruits?  Activate the imagination. Many times,  different form of serving will do the difference. . .because summer fruits contribute are powerful!

Melon:

Good for the immune system.

an excellent source of vitamin C essential for building collagen (connective tissue, the primary protein in bones, cartilage, tendons and skin) and normal functioning of the immune system, helps better absorption of iron from food.

An orange melon is an important source for antioxidants  that help reduce risk of heart disease, cancer and blood vessels.

Interesting Serving suggestion: Ice lolly!

Ingredients: melon and a bit Tahina or honey (optional. It is important to note that infants under one year old should not eat them yet).
Preparation: Put the melon in the food processor, grind, poured into plastic popsicle and put in the freezer. Popsicle can be incorporated more fruits. A winning combination: melon, kiwi and banana.

Kiwi:

Rich in vitamin C. Kiwi is considered the king of vitamin C (even more  then orange), is rich in fiber, folic acid and polyphenols (antioxidants), and studies attribute anticancer properties.
Interesting Serving suggestion: Kiwi Snowy Mountains!

Ingredients: cream cheese and kiwi.
Preparation: Fruit can be combined with the taste of cheese. Pour on a plate with a spoon  little “cheese mountains” and place between them kiwi pieces.
A little tip: you can do it with all kinds of fruits and combine several fruits together. Let your imagination and your children’s imagination have fun. Then you earn vitamins, minerals, fiber and calcium in one plate!

Peach:

Good for vision. Peach is a great source of water, vitamins, essential minerals, fiber and active nutrients like phytochemicals. It is also a source of beta carotene and vitamin A, essential for vision, maintaining the proper functioning of the immune system, normal growth and maintenance of healthy skin.
Interesting Serving suggestion: peach with a melon sailboat!

Ingredients: peach and melon.
Preparation: Cut the peach into quarters (those actually boats). Remove the pit. cut  the melon into triangles and inserting them with a toothpick in the center of the boat. Such boats can also make combinations with other fruits: apricot and halves grape, apricot and melon, peach and fig, peach and mango, apple and banana, or apple and melon.

Watermelon:

Quenching and refreshing. Watermelon is rich with liquid, great source of lycopene – a red pigment family of carotenoids – a powerful antioxidant that helps the body health maintenance.
Interesting Serving suggestion: watermelon in different shapes: hearts, animals or balls..

Grapes:

Speed up metabolism. Grapes are rich in active nutrients that give them the special color and Health Benefits. These components provide antioxidant activity that protect against cancer, heart disease, arteriosclerosis, cataracts and aging processes. They speed up the digestion and metabolism and cleanse the liver and blood. Green grapes contain lutein  that helps prevent cancer and promote healthy eyes. The main disadvantage is the amount of sugar: 100 grams of grapes contains about 67 calories…
Interesting Serving suggestion:  grape sticks.
Ingredients: grapes and long wooden toothpicks.

Mango:

Helps improve memory. Mango is a fruit which is rich in vitamin A, vitamin C and potassium.  Mango helps memory improvement, is rich in fiber and helps regulate digestion.
Interesting Serving suggestion: mango and yogurt ice cream.
Ingredients: 1 mango, 150g sheep’s yogurt, 2 tablespoons maple syrup.
Preparation: Blend together everything in a food processor and freeze in plastic popsicle.

Cherry:

Important dietary digestive system fibers. The beautiful deep color in cherries comes from a variety of pigments that are used as antioxidants and help maintain the integrity of the body cells and disease prevention. The cherries are rich in anthocyanins – antioxidants – power that will contribute to slowing the aging process and strengthen heart function, and important in fiber digestion.
Interesting Serving suggestion: a cherry, yogurt and vanilla popsicle!
Ingredients:  1 cup cherries, pitted and frozen (for two hours), 150 g sheep’s yoghurt, vanilla bean, 3 tablespoons maple syrup.
Preparation: Blend together all ingredients in a food processor, Pour into popsicle plastic and freeze.
