There is some very interesting research going on around why colds and flu infections spike during the fall and winter. There are several theories about why that is – the two most popular are 1.) drier air allows the viruses to survive in the air longer and 2.) people are inside and in closer contact when it’s cold outside.

We can also be considering:

  1. More stress for everyone , holiday season, end of a year etc.
  2. We tend to eat more sugar during this time of year with all the holiday treats, which doesn’t do our immune system any favors.

In any event, while you can definitely get the flu or a cold any time of year, there’s no question that they spike this time of year – so what can we do about it?
