It seems like something we hear a lot lately – holistic beauty.  Holistic Beauty. Is this just a trend or a marketing thing that might soon pass?

I don’t think so. In fact, pure skincare and beauty philosophy is based on the concept of holistic health and wellness. In this blog, I will explain what Holistic Beauty means, why it is important, and share few Holistic Beauty tips that you can adapt easily.

Definition of holistic

“Holistic means dealing with or treating the whole of something or someone and not just a part” (Cambridge Dictionary)

Beauty…the meaning of this is tricky as there are many definitions out there. However, as far we at I concerned, beauty is not defined by certain standards but rather by the overall health of the body (skin included, of course!), mind, and soul.

Holistic Beauty is an all-encompassing approach to healthy body, mind, and soul which will ultimately result in healthier radiant skin. This definition will explain why beauty is more than skin deep. On top of using the safe and natural skin care products to make your skin look instantaneously glowing and radiant, I would like to present a deeper meaning to achieving radiant skin, and I strongly advocate the holistic approach to beauty.

Here are few Holistic Beauty Tips for Radiant Skin…. inside out

1) Use only clean and green skincare: this range does not contain harsh, questionable, non-sustainable cosmetic ingredients. For e.g. paraben, phenoxyethanol, silicon, PEG compounds etc. may sound safe to use but why not choose a greener and more sustainable option if available?

and as well, be a part of the growing movement of eco friendly living community?

2) Protect your skin from UV rays by using a mineral sunblock/sunscreen or use physical protection e.g. hats, long sleeve blouses or shirts to minimize exposure.

conventional Sunblock/sunscreen will inevitably contain UV filters. but the harmful chemicals in them  will damage your organs and most likely create breakouts on your skin.

Some of these UV filters are already banned or may be banned in certain countries.

So, read the labels and choose your sunblock/sunscreen wisely.  meaning, make sure you are using a mineral sun protection, based on zinc oxide.   Try to avoid those with dyes, synthetic fragrances, parabens, or banned UV filters. It is easier these days to get hold of an organic sunblock/sunscreen, so the best practice is to make sure that you apply a base over your face cream  or inside it. This  will protect your skin from direct contact with the UV filters.

  • My suggestions: you can have your favorite face cream already with a natural SPF ( see here your choices), or the other option, which i personally use on my body as well as my children’s skin is a more balm- texture sun protection as this one.

3) Receive!  When you let go and allow someone else to take care of you, your skin and well being you will look and feel so beautiful, so grateful and watch how your worries become small and your skin is happier then ever!.   Would you like to experience a beauty and soul makeover? You are welcome, i’m all yours!

 4) Eat a balanced diet: avoid processed, fast food and excessive sugar (in drinks and pastries).

5) Drink sufficient water:  As cliche as it may sounds, it does work! our body contains 70% water and when we don’t drink enough or eat enough food that is rich with water, you can see it directly on your skin and your energy level.  There are many different opinions on how much water to drink daily, but commonly most health authorities recommend 2 liters per day…if you find it’s hard to drink plain water add some slices of cucumbers or fruits for a beautiful color and an added drops of vitamins. ( need some ideas of healthy vitamin water? here they are).

6) Add healthy oils to your diet.  Adding healthy oils to your diet on a daily basis will result in healthier skin. Here are some examples of edible beauty oils: olive oil, avocado, chia seed, flaxseed, walnuts, and moringa. Try to consume only food grade cold-pressed oils…organic if possible.

7) Exercise: it may be hard to keep this habit but once you get into the habit and see the effects on your body, you will be hooked for life…for the most part. Exercising also helps your body detox by opening up your pores and sweating out the toxins. You don’t have to sign up for a triathlon group:), simply find something you enjoy doing, from walking, yoga, running, group activities, dancing etc. When you really enjoy it, you will not want to stop and the benefits besides detoxing are as many as good feeling, great self esteem and a fit and healthier body!

8) Sleep sufficiently:  Lack of sleep has a major effect on your energy, memory, motivation, health and of course…your skin ( dull, tired skin anyone? no, thank you!)  for adults, 7-8 hours of nightly sleep. Yes, i know our busy life not always allows us to reach 8 hours of sleep but try not to make 4-5 hours of sleep a habit:)

9) Schedule in me-time to connect with yourself and meditate on what your heart is whispering to you. Even few minutes of meditation can recharge you and the overall relaxation will show up on your skin.

10) Follow your joy! – whatever it is for you, play with your kids, play your favorite music, walk in nature etc. make this @my joy time@ a part of your day.

In conclusion, holistic beauty is a way to place the focus on getting the body, mind, and soul into a healthy balance. Pick one or all of these holistic beauty habits from the list and start incorporating them into your routine or lifestyle, and build on each of these beauty habits. This is an empowering process that will make you feel so good about taking care of your skin and body and feeling you took your power back about  your overall health. When your body, mind, and soul are healthy, your skin will glow as well!
